Didn’t he originally write this script back in the early seventies for Zero Mostel? Is it really not that noticeably dated, or is it just that all of his recent stuff has felt dated in the same way?

My post did not take a position on whether it was dated, only on whether the main character was in certain respects reminiscent of Dr. House.
