Monday Movies: Interiors

Let’s imagine a Woody Allen film, without any of the jokes and light-heartedness. What you’d have then is a group of wealthy New Yorkers nursing their neuroses and at least one character obsessed with death. Then imagine if we were to include two suicide attempts, one successful, and an attempted rape that is passed over in silence afterward. Finally, make everything beige. That’s basically the formula for Interiors, which is easily the worst Woody Allen film I’ve ever seen — as well as one of the worst Ingmar Bergman films.

  1. It might make for an interesting contrast to follow it up with Crimes and Misdemeanors, which is easily his best.

  2. I did love C&M but I’m not sure it’s ‘easily’ his best.

  3. I don’t remember Interiors, but could it be worse than Another Woman?
