Monday Movies: Crazy people

This week, I watched the following movies:

  • Moon — based on commenter recommendations, I moved this one to the top of my queue and found it to be a really well-done variation on Blade Runner. It seemed strange to me that they would “waste” Kevin Spacey on the robot character, since Spacey never appears on camera and the robot obviously has pretty flat affect.
  • Grizzly Man — I finally got tired of people being shocked I hadn’t seen this, especially since I’ve seen so much other Herzog. My assessment: it’s as great as everyone says.

What did you watch this week, dear readers?

  2. I went to ‘Inception’, and I hope anybody breaking into my dreams will be more imaginative than the lot of them.

  3. The best part of Grizzly Man is the soundtrack (Richard Thompson! Jim O’Rourke!).

  4. You know Herzog secretly enjoyed listening to the audio tape of Timothy Tredwell and his girlfriend being eaten. The one he refuses to play for us.

  5. I felt similarly about Spacey’s role. It was executed perfectly, but the ceiling was pretty low. I watched a portion of The Art of the Steal and got the synopsis from my roommate.

  6. Oh, I also watched Brazil but forgot to update the post. I love Terry Gilliam’s preference for really grim endings.
