Spoiler Alert Thursday

As far as I can recall, tonight and last Thursday’s episodes of “Human Target” were the only new things on TV worth watching. I still don’t like the two new characters, but Guerrero is so good that he, alone, makes up for them. “Human Target” remains the best dumb show on TV in a number of years.

  1. Everybody watch Terriers. Do I repeat myself? It’s hardly as if I’m the only one.

  2. This week I decided to finish off Boardwalk Empire after letting the second half of the season pile up. I wound up really liking it and think I may rewatch the whole thing in rapid succession before the next season airs (my method of watching the first half as they came out, then waiting a couple months, made things somewhat difficult to folllow). What disturbed me, though, is that it seriously took like 4-5 episodes to warm up to the point where I felt like I was getting more than exposition. I also felt like the characters all looked a lot alike, so that it took me a long time to figure out who was who.

My next project: to catch up on last season of Dexter, which everyone has said is comparable to the Trinity season in quality. I gave up after episode 3, but already watching episode 4 yesterday convinced me it’s worth doing. Maybe watching premium cable dramas during the quarter just doesn’t work for me? (Basic cable dramas like Mad Men and Breaking Bad seem fine.)

Also, we finished up The Walking Dead — God, what an overwrought piece of shit. If that Last Psychiatrist guy is right that it’s about mourning, then I can only conclude that people are at their most intolerable while mourning.

  3. The season of “The Walking Dead” was a tremendous disappointment. I haven’t read the original comic books, so I don’t know if they are as tedious. I hope not. I really enjoyed this season of “Dexter.” Gossip sites report that Deb (the person) has filed for divorce against Dexter (the person). Gossip sites allege that Dexter and Lumen brought it into real life.

This is so true that the show made a very funny joke about it in the pilot — the FBI phone booth scene.

  5. Is Lt. LaGuerta a little cross-eyed?

  6. Still catching up on the latest season of Dexter — and though I know Craig likes him, it remains the case that every time Angel Batista appears on screen, a little piece of me dies.
