Tuesday Hatred: Daily Cheeto Deliveries

I hate it when people have stupid conversations in places where I can overhear them. This hatred is felt even more keenly, and is itself stronger, when one or more of the speakers has an annoying or attention-getting voice.

  4. Normally I hate the people at the coffee shop–and the shop itself–but it was okay yesterday when they were seemingly following the advice of Devjeet Mohumbhai by playing Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game.” I regret that I was unable to determine if they were playing “Wicked Game” honestly or ironically. Given the neighbourhood in question, I lean towards the latter, in which chase I hated the whole experience.

  5. I hate when it seems like the loud talkers in public places are purposely being that way because they think they’re clever and their topic of conversation is riveting and mind-blowing. The give-away is their little stolen glances to their surroundings to see who’s listening.

Contrary to their belief, I don’t give a shit about their opinion on why truth is subjective or whether Oasis is an important band. I just want to play Angry Birds in peace and quite goddamnit.

  6. No Mad Men until 2012! I hate Lionsgate. Greedy fuckers.

I hate those billboards that have gone up around town announcing in different languages that May 21 is the date of the Second Coming. Stop ripping people off, predatory cultists! I hate the idea of people getting scammed by end times churches.

I hate that at my office, duties that do not reasonably result in career advancement (e.g., dealing with support staff issues; mentoring junior employees; recruitment, especially the recruitment of support staff; and dealing with contractors, such as building maintenance services) are overwhelming delegated to women, even when those doing the delegating are also women. This drives me nuts. The thing is, I’m basically good at these tasks, and even get some satisfaction out of doing them, and so I often find myself accepting such work when requested of me. I always end up feeling taken advantage of, which I hate.

But, I am leaving this job very soon. I don’t hate that.

  7. I don’t have any hatred this week to share. But me and my wife just started watching Mad Men last week and are now in the middle of season 2 (we have enjoyed it…a lot) and on behalf of my wife-she hates Don Draper!

  8. I hate that I keep adding Spanish verb endings to Latin verbs, and that going from memory it’s increasingly difficult to remember which form is for which language.
